Fatima Mohammed Habib is a shining beacon of hope and determination, embodying the essence of selflessness. Born on September 23, 1999, in Maiduguri, Borno State, Fatima’s journey into humanitarianism began remarkably early. At the age of 14, she founded the Advocacy for Human Value Foundation (AFHVF), a non-profit organization committed to transforming lives in vulnerable communities across Nigeria.
Guided by a vision to provide essential support to underserved populations, AFHVF focuses on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), healthcare services, protection, and education. With over 1,300 volunteers and 30 staff members, the organization operates in key states like Abuja, Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Kano, Taraba, Jigawa, and Katsina. Through its initiatives, it has reached over 6,000 individuals in 73 marginalized communities in Northern Nigeria, addressing critical issues such as child sexual exploitation, gender-based violence, and girl-child education.
A graduate of Political Science from the University of Maiduguri and an alumna of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Regional Leadership Course, Fatima combines academic excellence with practical leadership. Her passion for community service is further strengthened by the values instilled in her during childhood. Raised in a family that emphasized kindness and respect for people from all walks of life, she attributes her commitment to helping others to the support and teachings of her parents.
In October 2020, AFHVF achieved a significant milestone through a partnership with Huawei Technology Company Nigeria Limited and the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy. Together, they renovated and equipped the Al-Walidyn Charitable School in Pantami Community, Gombe State, ensuring a better learning environment for children in the area. Recognizing economic independence as a vital tool, she has expanded her initiatives to educate and empower women to speak out and reclaim their agency.
