Born on the 28th of August 1966 in Mushin, Lagos State, he hails from the prestigious family of Prince Taiwo Hassan Obalanlege of Ijemo compound, Otta, and Mrs. Mutiat Afolake Obalanlege (Nee Anjorin) of lsoloshi compound, Otta. His educational journey began in Mushin and Ansar-Ud-Deen College, Isolo before culminating at Iganmode Grammar School, Otta. With a thirst for knowledge, he pursued higher education and obtained an HND in Mass Communication from Ogun State Polytechnic in 1991. His academic pursuits continued as he earned a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Journalism from Independent Colleges, UK, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Food Safety and Quality Management from Greenwich University in London. The Olota further expanded his intellectual horizons by attending the University of Leicester, where he obtained his Master’s degree in Mass Communication. His academic prowess reached its pinnacle when he completed his Ph.D. in Communication Studies on a scholarship at the University of Antwerp in Belgium.

He has made his mark as a distinguished journalist, embarking on a career that began with his role as a Reporter for the esteemed publication, The Mail Newspaper. Building upon his experience, the Olota served as the Public Relations Officer at the Lagos State Polytechnic before joining Thisday Newspaper, where he not only covered the Tourism & Hospitality desk but also played a significant role in marketing and advertising. His dedication to journalism led him to the United Kingdom, where he refined his skills and academic achievements. He held lecturership positions at two leading British universities, the University of East London and Lincoln University. Returning to his homeland, the Olota of Otta continued to impart knowledge as a teacher at his alma mater, Ogun State Polytechnic, the Lagos State University, and Crescent University, Abeokuta.

While in England, the Olota managed to strike a balance between Nigeria and the UK, overseeing the production of his renowned tourism and food hospitality compendium, Food International Magazine. This endeavor showcased his passion for promoting cultural exchange and celebrating the diverse culinary landscape. Additionally, he served as the Editor/Publisher of City Vanguard Newspaper, Ireland, successfully running the publication for 12 years.
