Alain Ebobissé: A Visionary Leader in Global Infrastructure Investment

With over two decades of experience in infrastructure finance and development, Alain Ebobissé has established himself as a key figure in driving transformative investments across the globe. Since 2016, he has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Africa50 Group, a Casablanca-based pan-African infrastructure investment and asset management firm. Under his leadership, Africa50 has grown to include 34 shareholders, comprising 31 African countries, the African Development Bank, and two African central banks, all working toward accelerating the continent’s infrastructure development.

Before taking the helm at Africa50, Ebobissé held senior leadership positions at the International Finance Corporation (IFC)/World Bank Group in Washington, DC. From 2008 to 2016, as Global Head of IFC InfraVentures, he led the creation and execution of the World Bank Group’s Global Infrastructure Project Development Fund. His expertise in mobilizing private and public-private partnership (PPP) investments resulted in over $10 billion in infrastructure financing across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. Managing a global team, he played a pivotal role in shaping landmark projects across key sectors, reinforcing his reputation as a strategic leader in infrastructure finance.

Earlier in his career, Ebobissé served as Chief Investment Officer at IFC, where he worked closely with senior stakeholders in the infrastructure sector, guiding major project financings and equity investments worldwide. His ability to forge partnerships and drive large-scale development projects has positioned him as a respected leader in the global infrastructure landscape.

Ebobissé’s academic credentials include an MBA from the International School for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland, a Master of Engineering in Computer Science and Operational Research from UTC Compiegne in France, and a BA in Mathematics from the University of Saint-Etienne, France. His strong technical foundation, combined with his strategic leadership, continues to shape Africa’s infrastructure landscape, fostering economic growth and sustainable development.
