Janice Omadeke is a pioneering serial entrepreneur who made a life-altering decision to transition from her role as a corporate graphic designer to embark on a journey into the startup world. Omadeke stands as Austin’s first Black woman to secure a venture-backed tech exit, ranking among the first 100 Black women to raise over $1 million in seed funding for her first tech company. As the CEO and Founder of The Mentor Method, she developed enterprise software designed to drive transformative change within company cultures through the power of mentorship.
With over a decade of leadership experience within Fortune 500 companies, Omadeke’s belief in data-driven decision-making has been a cornerstone of her strategy, innovation, and cultural transformation.The inspiration for Omadeke’s startup came from her father, an immigrant to the US who secured a job in the private sector through the benefits of a mentoring program. Witnessing the profound impact mentorship had on her father’s career, she realized its potential to transform lives. This realization led her to create The Mentor Method.
After graduating from Longwood University in 2009 and earning a Certificate in Strategic Management from Harvard University in 2015, Omadeke launched her professional career as a graphic designer before transitioning to entrepreneurship in 2019.Omadeke’s achievements have garnered significant recognition. She became one of the first 100 Black women in the United States to raise over $1 million in seed funding for a tech startup. Named one of Entrepreneur Magazine’s 100 Women of Influence in 2022 and DivInc’s Champion of Change Diversity Champion of the Year for Austin, she is also recognized by Black Enterprise as one of the top five women of African descent in technology in Washington, DC.
Her commitment to mentorship and entrepreneurship has been featured in prominent publications such as Forbes, the Harvard Business Review, The Austin Business Journal, Black Enterprise, and Inc. The Mentor Method has achieved numerous accolades under Omadeke’s leadership. The company won Capital Factory’s Women in Tech Challenge and is a MassChallenge Texas Gold winner. It has been featured in The Washington Business Journal and Entrepreneur Magazine and has been recognized as a 50 on Fire winner for both Austin and DC Inno. Additionally, Omadeke was a subject matter expert at the 2016 White House Summit on Building the Tech Workforce of Tomorrow. Her extensive experience includes building a mentorship program from scratch as a Manager at PwC and holding a PMP certification alongside a certification in Entrepreneurship from MIT.
