Delphine Traoré became the CEO of SanlamAllianz General Insurance in September 2023, marking a new chapter in her illustrious career. Before this role, she made history as the first African woman to serve as Regional CEO of Allianz Africa from 2021 to 2023 and the only Black woman on the Allianz Group’s Executive Committee.
Hailing from Orodara, Burkina Faso, Traoré’s leadership journey began in 2005 when she joined Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) in Canada. Over the years, she has held significant roles, including CEO of AGCS Africa, President of the African Insurance Organization (AIO), and membership on key boards such as Africa Reinsurance Corporation and African Risk Capacity Ltd.
At the 2024 Africa CEO Forum, Traoré shared her leadership philosophy: “We tend to be able to read people faster and that’s what’s driven me… it’s always about the people around me, the team around me.” With a focus on empathy and collaboration, she continues to inspire as a transformative leader at the helm of a global insurance giant.
