His educational journey began at Lagos City Council Primary School and continued at The Apostolic Church Grammar School in Ketu, Lagos.

Driven by a passion for engineering, Orekoya pursued further studies at Yaba College of Technology, where he graduated as an Electrical Electronics Engineer in 1988. Following his graduation, he completed his mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corp at the 43 Engineers Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Jos, an experience that laid a solid foundation for his professional endeavors.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Orekoya ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing a successful presence in computer engineering consulting and the haulage services industry. His professional accomplishments, however, were just one facet of his dynamic career.

Inspired by his father, a former Ward Chairman under the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria, Orekoya’s dedication to community welfare steered him towards politics. Currently, Orekoya serves as the State Representative for Somolu I constituency at the State Legislature, where his extensive training in technical, management, and leadership roles significantly benefits his constituents.

Orekoya’s personal life is marked by his commitment to family and his love for challenges, finding relaxation in football. His dedication to youth empowerment was evident when he, in collaboration with the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, organized a one-day youth capacity-building summit. The event, titled “Onboarding Sustainable Future Leaders,” was held on September 27, 2023, and attracted over 3,000 young participants.

During the summit, Orekoya emphasized the importance of youth in societal development, urging them to contribute their ideas and energy to address societal issues. He highlighted the necessity of ending poverty to earn respect and noted that the partners involved were selected based on their commitment to empowering the youth. Orekoya’s efforts underscore his commitment to fostering a prosperous future for the younger generation and enhancing the overall development of his community.
