The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland QC is the Commonwealth Secretary-General.
Scotland is a trained lawyer who became the first black woman to be appointed a Queen’s Counsel (QC) in 1991 and also the youngest woman at 35 ever to be made a QC
She became the commonwealth Secretary-General in 2016 and was re-elected in June 2022.
She is the second Secretary-General from the Caribbean and the first woman to hold the position.
