Lanre Adedoyin Honoured for Leadership That Strengthened Rotary’s Humanitarian Impact

Rotarian and legal practitioner Lanre Adedoyin, Immediate Past District Governor of Rotary International District 9112 has received the Special Leadership Award from City People Magazine in recognition of his stewardship during the 2025-2026 Rotary year.

The honour acknowledges a period marked by organisational growth, expanded humanitarian programmes and a renewed commitment to community service across Lagos and Ogun states.

Accepting the award, Adedoyin shifted the spotlight from individual accomplishment to collective service, describing the recognition as one that belonged to every Rotarian who contributed to the district’s progress. His message reflected the collaborative culture that has long defined Rotary’s global mission.

“I am deeply grateful for this recognition, which truly belongs to every Rotarian in District 9112,” he said. “Your excellent and wonderful support drove our shared successes. Glory be to God.”

District 9112, created following the restructuring of the former District 9110 in 2024, entered a formative period when Adedoyin assumed office as its second District Governor in July 2025. During his tenure, the district strengthened its focus on sustainability, healthcare delivery and the global campaign to eradicate polio while also recording notable growth in Rotary Foundation contributions and member engagement.

Today, the district comprises approximately 93 clubs and more than 4,500 members, reinforcing its position as one of Nigeria’s most active humanitarian networks.

Meanwhile, Adedoyin has earned respect within Nigeria’s legal profession as Principal of T.L. Adedoyin & Co. and for a longstanding commitment to public service. His support for Rotary predates his governorship, including personally funding the legal incorporation of the predecessor district, an initiative widely regarded within the organisation as evidence of his enduring investment in institutional development.

Colleagues have consistently described his leadership as one built on integrity, consensus and a practical commitment to service.

The Special Leadership Award arrives at a time when civic organisations are playing an increasingly important role in addressing social and developmental challenges across Nigeria. By recognising Lanre Adedoyin’s contributions, the honour also celebrates the thousands of volunteers whose collective efforts continue to improve lives through education, healthcare, youth development and humanitarian outreach. It is a reminder that effective leadership is measured not only by vision, but by the communities strengthened through purposeful action.
