Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, has married Mariam Anako on Tuesday.
The wedding was held at the monarch’s palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
After a few formalities at the building’s entrance, the new bride was led into the palace. According to reports, she was brought into the palace’s inner court where her husband and other guests were waiting to greet her.
Around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, in a video posted on his spokesperson Moses Olafare’s Facebook page, Oba Ogunwusi welcomed his new wife into the palace with the help of several chiefs and trusted advisors.
The Ooni met with his new in-laws on February 19, 2022, according to palace sources. The meeting is said to have been private and without fanfare because the monarch prefers media blackout.
According to sources, Mariam, whose parents reside in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, lost her father when she was a little child and was raised in the house of Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, a former Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
This wedding comes nine months after his previous spouse Naomi Silekunola left him.
